Types of Firework

Roman candles

A single tube loaded with a number of stars that fire one at a time. The star is visible as it leaves the tube until it burns out arcing through the sky. Usually mounted by burying in sand or attaching to a secure support.

Barrages or batteries

Multiple roman candles that are fused to all fire at once.

Bombshells or AerialsBombshells or aerials

A smaller version of the type used by professionals at large community celebrations. Where the professional shells range from 50mm up to 155mm, and even larger for giant shells, consumer shells range 40-45mm. The shell is at the bottom of the mortar, and when the fuse is lit a black powder lift charge underneath the shell propels it into the sky. At the height of it's trajectory an internal time fuse ignites the burst charge which breaks open the shell casing and ignites the effects. They usually have a plastic base for mounting on a firm level surface.

Mines

A volcano-like eruption of many stars in a fan shape. Usually mounted with a plastic base.

Comets

A star with a long flittery comet's tail streaming behind. Small comet stars can be found in roman candles, or as one large star all by itself.

Fountains & Cones

Fountains sit stationary on the ground and emit a shower of sparks upward, often with colours and special effects, some with a whistle. Fountains offer long-lasting displays, beautiful colours and unusual effects. Cones are placed on the ground, some fountains have plastic bases, others are tubes that are to be buried.                                                                  You need browser equipping Java.

Sparklers

SparklerThe only hand-held firework! Even though the sparks they produce are fairly tame in themselves, the burning tip is intensely hot and can burn through clothing and cause a bad burn in a fraction of a second. Even when the sparkler goes out, the wire remains hot for some time. All extinguished sparklers should be put in a bucket of water to cool the wire. If children are to use sparklers it must be with strict adult supervision. Check out our great new Novelty sparklers in the shape of numbers.

Catherine WheelWheels

Designed to be attached to a support such as a post or tall ladder. They spin at high speed, creating a colourful circular shower of sparks. They come in different sizes depending on the number of "drivers" or cartridges that make the wheel spin and produce the effect. We have 2, 3 and 4 driver wheels in stock. Many wheels also include sirens.

Repeating displays or "cakes"

These are broad squat devices that fire a number of shots one after the other with only one fuse to light. They are especially effective to use as part of a finale.
